1 cup dried beans=2.5 cups cooked. Dried beans should be soaked overnight. If you don’t have much time, start them in hot water and then four to five hours should be enough. Throw away the soaking water, rinse the beans well , boil for 10 mins and then simmer for 45-60 minutes.
